Dubai Skim Jam – Free Event for All Levels!
Get ready, Dubai skimboarders! On October 18 & 19, the sands of Jumeirah Public Beach 2 will come alive with the Dubai Skim Jam – a two-day celebration of skill, style, and community on the water.
Whether you’re a beginner just learning to slide or an experienced rider pulling off tricks, this event is open to everyone. There’s no cost to join – just bring your board, your friends, and your love for the sport.

My Story
My name is Todd Rooks and I first discovered skimboarding at 13, taking a wooden board to Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA a few times each year. The sport quickly became a passion, and though I couldn’t afford a high-end board at the time, I saved up in college to buy my first real one—a used Zap Large Wedge from Craigslist. That moment marked the beginning of a lifelong journey.
Even while living far from the coast and only getting the chance to skim a few days each year, my dedication never faded. Today, living in Dubai with the beach at my doorstep, I’m driven to share this passion with others. My mission is to provide the UAE community with access to quality boards and coaching so they can progress quickly, develop their skills, and experience the thrill that hooked me years ago.
Skimboarding is challenging, versatile, and endlessly rewarding. I look forward to seeing the sport grow in this region and to inspiring the next generation of riders.
